On the 20-th of August, the St. Stephen patronal feast day was held in Solotvino. At the beginning of the mass, bishop Antal Majnek blessed the renovated church interior. Shortly thereafter, those gathered had to leave the church because of bomb alert; the mass continued in the churchyard.

On the 31-st of August, the mass of the consecration of oil took place in the St. Martin of Tours Cathedral, as well as the meeting of the priests of Transcarpathia. As part of the mass, the priests consecrated the oils needed to serve the sacraments and also renewed their priestly promises made at their consecration.

On the 1-st of September, the school year-opening was held in schools, including the St. Stephen Liceum of Mukachevo.

On the 5-th of September, cardinal Marian Jaworski, retired Archbishop of Lviv, died in Kraków.

On the 19-th of September, the year-opening for the new students and the year-ending for the graduating students of the Diocesan Theological Course were held in Mukachevo, which was followed by the awarding of diplomas.

On the 13-th of October, bishop Antal Majnek blessed the chapel above the sacristy of St. George’s Parish Church in Uzhhorod. It was followed by the meeting of the priests and pastoral staff of the Lower-Ung dean district.

On the 27-th of October, Jan Niemec, the auxiliary bishop of Kamenets-Podolsk, died at the hospital in Łańcut, Poland. His funeral took place on  November 4-th in Dobrzechów, Poland.

On the 28-th of October, Štefan Sečka, the bishop of Spiš, died. Last year he was the invited speaker of our diocesan patronal feast day.

On the 29-th of October,  the meeting of priests and pastoral staff of the dean district of Bereg-Ugocha was held in Berehovo.

Diocesan patronal feast day

On the 11-th of November we are going to hold the patronal feast day of the St. Martin of Tours Cathedral. The festive mass begins at 11o’clock, its main celebrant will be Janosh Szekely, diocesan bishop of Szombathely. We welcome all the believers of our diocese, in compliance with the existing quarantine rules!

Saint Elizabeth-Collecting

On the Sunday closest to the feast of St. Elizabeth of the Arpad House, on November 22, we will hold a collecting at the masses throughout our diocese for the benefit of our Caritases.
